It was a season of ups and down for Lady Bobcats Volleyball. They started out the season strong — at 9 and 0, but then ran into some difficulties with a string of loses. They did earn a spot in the WACS State Volleyball Tournament in Menomonee Falls, and interestingly, the Lady Bobcats were one of the only teams that beat the State Championship team earlier in the season.
A big highlight of this season for the Lady Bobcats was that our own Charity Abts was awarded All State Honors for outstanding performance and skill on the court. Charity led the Lady Bobcats in serving, serve receive, kills, and tips and blocks! But it wasn’t only her volleyball skills that helped drive her team forward. Coach Brown says that “Charity is a natural leader with a pleasant spirit who not only wants to play well herself but also wants to see her teammates succeed and play well too.”

Charity is a junior at Bay City Christian School and has been playing volleyball since 7th grade. She feels honored to receive the All State award and she attributes her success to all the hard work that goes into preparing for every game. “Practice pushes you to strive for your best – always keep moving forward, and if you mess up, not to focus on the mistake. Learn from our mistakes… set a standard and then all work together to reach our goals.”
She believes the skills she’s learning in volleyball will help her now, and in the future. “Volleyball gets you working together as a team. In the future, you’re going to have to work around others and work with others, and you’re going to have to get along. It helps you in working with the team to get everybody moving and working as a whole group.”
Congratulations to Charity Abts on earning All State Honors, and we look forward to seeing Charity and the whole Lady Bobcats Volleyball team on the court next year.
