Mrs. Shelly Roth

Wisconsin Association of Christian Schools Teacher of the Year Award Recipient –

Bay City Christian School has been blessed through the years with many faithful and talented teachers, so we’re thrilled that this year the Wisconsin Association of Christian Schools has named our 4th and 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Shelly Roth, “Teacher of the Year”.  Her students didn’t hesitate when I asked them why she deserves the award.  Here are just a few of the responses from several of her students:

“She’s really kind, even if you get something wrong, and she works with you.” – Ethan

“She shows a lot of mercy and grace even when you fall down.  She’s just so sweet through everything.  I love her!” – Brynn

“She’s really nice – makes learning very, very fun.  She helps us through personal situations, really just kind all the time.” – Sydney

“When you’re in a bad mood or not feeling good, she’ll just hug you and help you feel better.” – Tyler

We’re so thankful to have Mrs. Roth at Bay City Christian School.  She not only pushes her students academically to prepare them for middle school, but she supports and helps them through the difficulties they face in their school day.  As you can tell by the words of her students, Mrs. Roth strives to live out the gospel in her classroom, by sharing the love, mercy, and grace of Christ whether the day holds joys or hardships.

Mrs. Roth is an Alaskan native.  She went to Bob Jones University where she majored in Home Economics. Her intention was not to teach in a Christian school but to minister alongside of her husband in his ministry. She began teaching after several years of being a pastor’s wife. For seventeen years now, elementary students have benefited academically and spiritually from her classroom

ministry. If you watch Shelly, you will observe late nights of dedicated preparation, sweet interactions with her students in which biblical principles are consistently presented into every aspect of their lives, and also hours of prayer for every student.  Shelly truly cares for her students, and it is evident every day.

In Christian schools throughout Wisconsin, there are a multitude of faithful servants quietly serving God by serving others.  They look neither for fame nor for riches, but for the eternal reward of hearing the Lord welcome them by declaring, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Their faithfulness is evident by the hours spent making sure the classroom is perfect, by thoroughly preparing each lesson to meet the daily objective, by urging each child to progress according to his or her academic ability, and by bathing everything in prayer for God’s blessing and the student’s spiritual growth.

This is the testimony of Mrs. Roth.  Thank you Mrs. Roth for all you do for every one of your students, every day at Bay City Christian School!
